The Three R's of nonprofit messaging: We often hear how to frame nonprofit content for the external audience – constituents, donors, community. Storytelling. I suggest using the "3 R's" for targeted, comprehensive storytelling – reading, (W)riting, and ROI (Return on Investment). Business leaders tell us to read, read, read. Reading both fiction and nonfiction:
· expands our world, broadens perspectives
· helps us hone in on a writing style
· gets us thinking past our immediate world
· gets us noticing words, phrases, motifs, and styles for better nonprofit messaging
These benefits improve storytelling; the better the storytelling, the greater return on investment of mission messaging.
