I am a writer, author, freelancer, Mom, advocate for disability inclusion, seamstress, business owner, communication strategist, and humorist. I have over 38 years of writing, communication, and marketing experience as a small business owner and consultant to other entrepreneurs. I began my professional career in the hotel industry, specifically in catering and event planning. From there, I built an award-winning special events company for more than 20 years in Baltimore, MD, and Columbus, OH, and later found additional success in nonprofit management.
Public speaking, industry instructor, writing tutor, published author, and (Baltimore’s) Best Party Decor are some of the accomplishments of my career. Now, through life changes, freelance writing allows me to combine marketing and communication expertise and business strategy experience with my abilities in nonfiction writing. I have been writing nonfiction since high school. I am the Mother of two compassionate, accomplished, and witty adult children. An enthusiastic alumni of The Ohio State University, I earned a BA in Strategic Communication, and an MBA from Ohio Dominican University. Proudly, I am also a Certified Balloon Artist.
My personal advocacy is disability inclusion in the workplace.
I've been writing since the fourth grade. I’ve been working in nonprofits and writing grant proposals for 16 years. I've helped small and mid-sized nonprofits (and a few large ones) secure more than $13 million in grants. I've trained more than 570 nonprofit professionals in grant proposal writing and related topics.
